Meet our home manager,
Nikki Leaney

Nikki has been a registered nurse for 40 years. She began her inspirational career specialising in elderly care over 30 years ago and has been a care home manager for the past 21 years.

It was while working on the wards of the NHS that Nikki decided she wanted to make a difference in how care for the elderly was delivered. After joining Alderwood in 2014, Nikki tells us that achieving both the Outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission along with Gold Standard Accreditation for End of Life Care were amazing accolades of which she is immensely proud.

She says: “My brother was born with brain damage and so it was my experience with his incredible care team – who became a second family and loved him like we do – that made me realise this is how I want to deliver care. Over the years I have made some truly wonderful connections and friendships, not only with the people I’ve cared for but their families as well.”

The rewards have been immense for Nikki who tells us that it’s the gratitude and appreciation from families that continue to motivate the whole team here at Alderwood Care Home to keep making a difference in the delivery of exceptional care.

Nikki lives locally in what she describes as her dream home; a chocolate box cottage, idyllically situated on a hill overlooking a meadow. It is here, surrounded by her ever-growing family of two daughters and three grandchildren, that Nikki spends her time off indulging in much-loved hobbies, such as gardening, countryside walks, and DIY – she even painted the exterior of the cottage herself!

Our home manager, Nikki is here to help you and your family.
