NAPA Award Celebrations

A Bramley Court resident and a team member at Alderwood celebrate wins at the 2014 NAPA Awards!

The National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) is designed to recognise the variety of activities organised within care homes all over the country, as well as celebrating the residents who take part.

Alderwood’s James Kalisz was awarded the Unsung Hero Award for the tremendous difference he has made in the short time he has worked at the home as the maintenance officer. He is adored by the residents and always goes above the call of duty using compassion and care. Amongst his many skills James has willingly acted as a chauffeur, barman and bbq chef at Alderwood, whilst making sure the home is well-maintained and safe for both the residents and staff. James is a much-loved member of the team who the residents and staff are all extremely proud of.

Bramley Court’s 83 year-old resident, Janet Owens won first place in the ‘Growing Old Disgracefully’ category at the ceremony. It’s Janet’s antics on bouncy castles and brave trips into the bracing sea that have led her to becoming this year’s winner. Janet exclaimed, “It is fantastic to be awarded first prize at this year’s awards and is a testament to just some the activities arranged for us. If bravely swimming outdoors in the English sea and reliving my youth on a bouncy castle is me growing old disgracefully then long may it continue!”

The two deserving winners attended the awards ceremony held in London on 17th September , and had a wonderful time. They were also presented with a superb prize of £250 towards the homes activities.
